In a bid to strengthen women entrepreneurs, the ministry of women and child development (WCD) launched Mahila e-Haat, an online marketing platform for women, on the occasion of International Women Day. A good initiative towards women empowerment which will not only make women skilled and technologically advanced enough but will pave the way for financial inclusion under Digital India Mission as well.
In recent decades, various schemes have been launched by Government to ensure socio-economic betterment of women. However surveys and index depict a different picture. As per Gender Gap Index report 2015, The country continues to be the third lowest performing country from the Asia and the Pacific region on that pillar just before Iran, Islamic Republic and Pakistan in terms of Economic Participation and Opportunity pillar. One of the larger challenges that Indian women face, compared to other countries, is the disproportionate amount of time spent per day in unpaid work compared to men. This is one of the reasons why women's labour force participation is lagging behind
Moreover,India also ranked among worst performers in literacy and sex ratio at birth, social and religious boundations and dropping out of girls after primary education being the reason.

This deteriorated condition of women can not be changed until significant steps are taken to bridge the gender gap in secondary and tertiary education along with creating commensurate employment opportunities. Skill training programs must be introduced.
Though, Government has announced training programs in this budget to incentivize people from rural area towards skilled employment but to implement scheme on grass root level through creaky local administration and infrastructure is a challenge.
Happy Women's Day
