Unintelligible Desire

India has recently got membership of Missile Technology Control Regime and hoping for Nuclear Suppliers Group's membership too.

Whether it is Nuclear Suppliers Group or United Nations Security Council, India's increasing obstinacy raises question on its logic of requesting membership of such groups. It is worth noting that NSG was a reactionary outcome of India's nuclear test of 1974. India's inclusion is contradictory to the fundamental cause of its origination. However, with time, ideology and perception of countries have also changed. That is why they are supporting India's membership.

But the most important question here is what India is gaining?

The objective of MTCR and NSG is to prevent nuclear proliferation. Now if India wholeheartedly wants to participate in achieving world peace by controlling proliferation of nuclear weapons, why it hasn't signed NPT yet? So this is not India's motive definitely.

If India is hoping for getting high tech state-of-the-art technology then this misconception needs to be clarified as soon as possible. Technology related benefits India could get without even getting membership of MTCR. This too doesn't seems India's purpose.

Since decisions in MTCR are based on consensus, There is no point of taking negative front against Pakistan.

India wants to gain a foot globally. It rather seems "why-not" attitude than a well defined strategy or purpose. It will also justify India's superiority over Pakistan. Intentionally or unintentionally, India will not loose any chance of threatening Pakistan. Now China knows that by getting membership of MTCR or NSG, India is not going to gain anything.China has no base of taking opposition front. It only wants to justify its so-called friendship with Pakistan.
