Recently the committee(I do not remember the name) which was constituted to propose recommendations regarding civil services exams submitted its ostentatious report to government. What it recommended is not surprising at all. That old chant of lowering age limit clause.
I am completely unaware and unacquainted about the purpose of this particular recommendation. Why do you want to lower the age limit?. I am not saying this because I am in danger if this point is accepted by government but because I do not find any sensible or logical argument in this. These are my questions:
1) If you are lowering the age limit with a great margin that means aspirants now will have to prepare for exam in college level(It doesn't apply to everyone, I have generalized the context a bit). Now UPSC demands preparation with descent amount of time. Now if aspirants start preparation at graduation level it will definitely affect their graduation course more or less. Do you encourage this practice?
2) Approx. 4-5 lakh candidate write exam every year. Now suppose after applying recommendations, 2 lakh aspirants are out of the race. Are you ready to endure widespread agitation across-the-board?
And if you do have the guts to bear this, why don't you do anything about reservations? Which is actually masticating the country's social progress.
Why are you so obsessed with lowering age limit?
Now I put a scenario in front of you.
An aspirant, with his arduous efforts and hardwork, clear prelims, mains and reach the interview level but fail to clear it. The process is too long as we know. When results are over there is very less time left for next prelims and this guy fail to clear prelims this time because he was indulged in the long process. Do you have a remedy for that?
Have you even thought about that? Can you learn from GATE like exams where score card is valid for two years. Here at least prelims score card can be made valid for 1 year.
Professionalism and rationalization of every aspect is very essential while making report. Think about it.
